Pt. 2 – Install plugins via Composer, migrate data
This is the second in a series of screen-casts that will document the process of moving a WordPress website from a shared hosting provider to a Digital Ocean droplet with Trellis, Bedrock, and Sage, with an SSL from Let’s Encrypt.
In the first screen-cast I setup Trellis & Bedrock.
In this screen-cast I’ll get my theme & plugins installed, deal with a couple of premium plugins, and migrate my data into my development environment.
In part 3 I setup my Digital Ocean droplet, prepare my project, provision the server and deploy the site.

Hey Jimmy,
This tutorial series has been really helpful in wrapping my head around some of the more ambiguous sections of the Roots Documentation. I was just wondering if you’d ever considered a text/step by step version? I find myself revisiting this video to make sure I’m doing stuff right sometimes and it would be much faster if I had that.
If not, would you be offended if I was to create something like that?
Hey Bradley,
Thanks for your comment and I’m really glad you’ve found the videos helpful. I’m not opposed to doing a text version, it’s just a matter of finding the time. 🙂
Oh man, not at all! I’d be more than happy to link to it from these posts as well.
